Quick Fact FEMA and the American Red Cross are using the "FEMA E-funds MasterCard" and the "American Red Cross Client Assistance MasterCard" to distribute Katrina relief funds. The FEMA card was loaded with $2,000 in government funds per household. The FEMA card program has since stopped and is currently under review. However, the Red Cross continues to distribute between $850 and $1,600 via its card program to hurricane victims, depending on family size.

Card Smarts This section of Touchpoints includes tips and tidbits to help you get the most out of your card programs.
You can't manage what you don't measure.
This is an old adage in marketing, but it really applies to your card programs, as well. Before you initiate any marketing efforts to promote your program, you should first establish your baseline card program performance. A full ROI (return on investment) calculation would be best; however, you should at least be prepared to report changes in transactional spend and volume. Remember, card program spend is very cyclical, so you want to use the same month in the previous year for comparitive purposes.
Contact Vice President of Card Programs, Janet Simpson at 717-728-0290 for information about how OneBridge can help you measure and enhance you card programs.

OneBridge Goes "Back To School" at the 2005 Share One Customer Conference |
|
The 2005 Share One Customer Conference, themed Back to School, was in Memphis, Tennessee on September 18 - 21. OneBridge President Kim Graham Lee, Director of Sales Bill Crouch, and Marketing Associate Leslie Kern represented OneBridge at the event.
In the photo to the right, Northern Star Credit Union CFO Joann Brown, Leslie, and Bill discuss the benefits of the Gateway system after Joann successfully completed the Gateway Navigator Challenge. In addition to exhibiting as a vendor, OneBridge also participated as a speaker during two of the sessions.
During Monday's lunch presentation, Kim shared a high-level overview of some of the benefits of internal card programs. Her presentation, entitled "Debunking the Myths About Managing Your Own Card Program" focused on sharing with the group the value OneBridge clients see in their card programs.
The four myths Kim debunked included:
- It's a scary animal to bring our card program in-house.
- It requires an entire department to manage it.
- We may not be able to serve our cardholders as well.
- We won't make as much/any money if we manage the program ourselves.
|
|
Bill built on Kim's message during the credit card session later that day. His co-presentation with Share One's Janet Harris-Smith included a demonstration of the Gateway Navigator as well as a more detailed explanation of how the system is used within the institution on a daily basis. Bill also introduced some more strategic questions including the impact rewards can have on a card program and the value of relationship-based pricing.
"It was great to have OneBridge at our conference this year," said Share One's Vice President of Client Services Teri Van Frank. "Their message really got our clients thinking about the value of internal card programs. We look forward to continuing to develop our relationship with OneBridge." |
